The event is very popular on a world wide basis as Flatholm Island in the Bristol Channel  is the point to which Mr. G. Marconi made the first successful  wireless transmission over water  from Lavernock Point  in South Wales on 13th May  1897.
Barry  Amateur Radio Society makes an annual trip to Flatholm Island to pay homage to Marconi and his success and the subsequent  outcome of amateur radio.
The club operates  under the callsign GB5FI  and we anticipate being operational  on all  HF  bands and modes including SSTV.    In addition subject to resources  VHF / UHF  ( 70cm and 2metres) and  possibly  via an amateur radio satellite link.
